Supreme Court Orders CBI Probe into Alleged Fake Encounters in Chhattisgarh

Allegations of extrajudicial killings have long been a dark shadow over India’s security forces, particularly in conflict zones like Chhattisgarh. In a major ruling, the Supreme Court has ordered a CBI investigation into multiple alleged fake encounters in the region.

The case was brought forward by human rights activists and families of victims, who alleged that security personnel had staged killings and later framed victims as Maoist insurgents. The petitioners pointed to forensic inconsistencies and witness testimonies that contradicted official reports.

In its ruling, the Supreme Court stated:
⚖️ Any use of force by law enforcement must be subject to judicial scrutiny.
⚖️ Victims of extrajudicial violence deserve an impartial investigation.
⚖️ Rule of law must prevail over unchecked state power.

The ruling has reignited debates on counterinsurgency tactics and the fine line between national security and human rights. For families of the alleged victims, the case is a step toward long-overdue justice.
