Section 159 of the Companies Act, 2013
Section 159 of the Companies Act, 2013 deals with the punishment for failure to furnish Director Identification Number (DIN)-related information as required under Section 152, Section 155, and Section 156.
📘 Section 159 – Punishment for Contravention
If any individual or director of a company:
Fails to furnish their Director Identification Number (DIN), or
Furnishes false information or
Fails to inform changes in their particulars (as required under Section 156),
👉 Then, the person is liable to:
Penalty of ₹50,000; and
In case of a continuing default, a further penalty of ₹500 per day,
Subject to a maximum of ₹5,00,000.
