Medical Examiner's Office: Established to investigate deaths resulting from unnatural or suspicious causes, the ME's office conducts autopsies, toxicology analyses, and forensic investigations. Medical examiners have the authority to subpoena witnesses and testify in court regarding the cause and manner of death 

Board of Medical Examiners: This board regulates the practice of medicine in the USVI, ensuring that medical professionals adhere to established standards and practices

St. Thomas Facility:ξˆƒIn July 2021, the ME's office relocated to a newly established facility at 10A & 11A Bjerge Gade, St. Thomas, The facility includes an autopsy suite, morgue, and offices for staff, It is equipped with two autopsy tables, an X-ray machine, a 20-body cooler, and other amenities to support forensic investigations 

St. Croix Facility:The VIDOJ has plans to establish a similar facility on St. Croix, with projections for completion by the end of 2022

The VIDOJ is actively seeking a qualified individual to serve as the Medical Examiner for the US. The position requires a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree, certification in Anatomic and Forensic Pathology from the American Board of Pathology or an international equivalent, and extensive experience in forensic pathology
