Section 2. State Superintendent of Education

Section 3. State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE)
Composed of 11 members: 8 elected from districts, 3 appointed by the governor.
The board supervises and controls the public elementary and secondary schools and special schools under its jurisdiction.
It sets minimum standards and policies.
Section 4. Approval of Private Schools
BESE may approve private schools that meet certain minimum standards.
Section 5. School Funds

The Minimum Foundation Program (MFP) ensures adequate and equitable school funding.
The MFP is developed by BESE and requires legislative approval.
