Criminology at Artsakh

Artsakh State University, established in 1992 in Stepanakert, was the primary institution for higher education in the Republic of Artsakh. However, following the 2023 Azerbaijani offensive and the subsequent displacement of Nagorno-Karabakh Armenians, the university ceased operations. In November 2023, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Education repurposed the university building for a new institution named Karabakh University, which began admitting students in 2024 .(Wikipedia)

Despite the closure of Artsakh State University, efforts are underway to continue educational opportunities for displaced students. For instance, Southwestern Law School in the United States has signed memoranda of understanding with the Human Rights Defender’s Offices of Armenia and Artsakh. This collaboration has led to the establishment of two full scholarships annually for students from these regions to pursue Master of Laws (LL.M.) programs .(Wikipedia, Southwestern Law School)

If you are interested in criminology and criminal law, several universities in Armenia offer relevant programs:

Yerevan State University (YSU): YSU's Faculty of Law provides comprehensive courses in criminal law and criminology. The faculty also offers practical training through its legal clinic, where students can assist in real legal cases under supervision .(YSU)

Eurasia International University (EIU): EIU offers Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Law, with courses covering criminal law, criminal proceedings, and forensic science. The university also has a legal clinic that allows students to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios .(eiu.am)

These institutions provide robust programs for those interested in criminology and related fields. If you need assistance with applications or further information on these programs, feel free to ask.
